Rule 9
Scrutiny of nomination papers<br>

(1) When the Election Officer examines the nomination papers registered in accordance with Rule 5, if a complaint is filed against any candidate in accordance with Rule 8, he shall make a decision after making necessary inquiries in that regard.
(2) When the Election Officer examines the nomination papers according to sub-rule (1), if any nomination paper is found to be defective, such nomination paper shall be rejected.
(3) When the Election Officer examines the nomination papers according to sub-rule (1), if more than one nomination paper is registered, if such nomination papers are duly seen, the concerned candidate or his representative shall be required to maintain one of the nomination papers and the other nomination paper shall be rejected. However, if the concerned candidate or his representative is not present, the election officer will keep the previously registered nomination paper and cancel the other nomination paper.
